Back during the hey day of the cold war, I had
this flight of fancy: that the USA andthe USSR should
each connect all of their nuclear missles to ONE each
firing control, target them to completely destroy each
city of the "enemy," then -- TRADE FIRING CONTROLS!
Any push of the button would immediately destroy
whichever country pushed it, which would be the
outcome regardless due to mutual assured destruction,
but the symetrical and proportionate justice would be
manifest.
There is no proportionate response to killing MY
child, regardless of who I am or what side claims to
speak for me. But there is a response to killing OUR
children. It used to be expressed as "Off the Pig."
How do people say it now?

Proportionality
# Exactly what is the "proportional" response to
thousands of rockets
launched at a country by its neighbours?
# What is disproportionate about deliberate attacks
on Israeli civilians
being responded to with attacks on military
installations and their
support infrastructure?
# How would France, the UK and others act if
civilians in over 20 towns
and villages were faced with a constant barrage of
rockets on their homes,
schools, hospitals, trains, factories, fuel
facilities?
